2009 Programs
Canoe Camp
Year after year campers return to TICC because it is a great program. Here is a
brief outline of the program for parents to follow:

Canoe Camp- Explorers and Adventurers
July 5-16, July 19-30, August 3-13(closed August 2 Civic Holiday)
An adventure based program for novice and intermediate boys and girls up to
age 9
miniumum age 7 as of December 31, 2009 (no exceptions).
Focus is on water safety skills, basic recreational canoe skills, complemented
by daily creative activities, games and outdoor nature activities.

Canoe Camp- Voyageur Ultimates
July 5-16, July 19-30, August 3-13(closed August 2 Civic Holiday)
suggested age 10-14
beginner/intermediate/advanced levels
Whether you are just starting out or are already an experienced paddler our
enthusiastic, fun coaches will help you to further your kayak and canoe skills in
recreational and sprint boats. Recreational canoe skills focus on tandem and
solo manoeuvres, boat rescue and trip preparation. An introduction to sprint
racing is part of the program using racing canoes and kayaks. The extensive
Island lagoon environment is a challenging and delightful place to play and
learn more about our sport.

Fees: Session A $420, Session B $420, Session C $378

Sprint Racing Team for Youth 8-18 yrs.
Coaches: Tony Earle and Alexei Smith
Participation fee: $200 Peewee/Bantam/Midget/Juvenile  $100 Atom (under 10
yrs on Jan 1, 2010) 5% discount for Family Members.  
Open House date TBA  pm. First practice mid May. Pick up practice
schedule at the Club.

TICC does not have a Masters Sprint Program. Contact Balmy Beach Club or
Mississauga Canoe Club to learn about instructional programs in Sprint
Canoe/Kayak.


Adult Rowing Section  
The rowing section is coordinated by Volunteer Tom Butscher. Rowers train
year round for endurance and conditioning on club
indoor equipment.  Rowing
shells are privately owned. Use of shells and equipment is coordinated by
Tom Butscher.
Toronto Island Canoe Club
Membership information
Toronto Island Canoe Club's programs are open to the general public. TICC is a volunteer run, not for profit organization and a member of the Ontario Recreational
Canoe Association (ORCA), Canoe Kayak Canada-Western Ontario Division. Our
programming focus is on water safety and canoe/kayak training for youth and adult
recreational canoeing.
Membership spots are limited. The final date for membership renewal is February 26. After then Membership is
on a first come first served basis. See below for contact info.

Membership benefits:
Adult members enjoy shared use of recreational canoes,  equipment and facilities.
Use of boats is confined to the Toronto Island lagoon network (approx 10K).
Absolutely no alcohol, tobacco or recreational drugs are permitted on club facilities,
in and around equipment.
Family memberships are available.

Private boat storage (sprint canoe/kayak, sea kayak only)

How to join

Renewing members: please ensure your renewal is complete before the renewal deadline.
Prospective members: membership is available on a first come first served basis.
Fees are not prorated and membership is for the calendar year.

General information
We do not rent canoes or kayaks. Please contact the City of
Toronto Boathouse at Centre Island 397-BOAT for rentals.
Toronto Island Canoe Club is a volunteer run, not for profit
organization devoted to the tradition of small boating on
Toronto Island. We are located on Wards Island in the former
Fire Station #33. We offer recreational memberships for
adults and  day camp and sprint team programs for youth up
to age 18.
